Australian Pro Mining Rally in Tasmania

Two proposed mines in Tasmania, Australia have been the subject of heated debate. While the Tasmanian State government has recently approved the proposed Riley Creek Tin and Livingstone iron mines, anti-mining groups have filed court injunctions in an attempt to stop these projects. In the wake of these developments supporters of responsible mining development in Tasmania have been demonstrating their desire to see these projects move forward by gathering at public rallies. In May 2013 over 2,500 people came to a rally organised by the Australia Workers Union  (AWU). AWU branch secretary Ian Wakefield  said, "The residents want to come  out and show their support for  responsible mining." See photos of this event here
